Tungsram Lighting, a global lighting manufacturer owned by Jörg Bauer, has officially taken over GE Lighting’s operations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, as well as its global automotive lighting business (GEL EMEAT).

Since April 2018, Tungsram Lighting has been gradually re-entering markets worldwide, strengthening its position as a leader in innovative lighting technology. The company’s headquarters in Budapest, along with five manufacturing plants in Hungary and the entire GE Lighting infrastructure, now operate under the name Tungsram Operations Kft.

Tungsram’s story spans more than a century of lighting innovation. After GE Lighting acquired Tungsram’s factories in 1989, their brand remained active within the GE Lighting Group, maintaining its commitment to quality and energy-efficient lighting. Now, under independent leadership, they are once again shaping the future of global lighting solutions through advanced LED, industrial, and automotive technologies.
